Tregullow Marbled Beef

There were traditions of beef farming on the Tregullow Estate, that go back a very long way.  The fields that the cattle graze are sheltered by belts of trees and by Cornish hedges. The closeness to the Atlantic Ocean ensures that they live in a healthy environment, enabling them to grow up as robust and healthy cattle.

Red Rubie at Tregullow

Our Devon cattle spend their lives in the beautiful setting of Tregullow. Three miles from the sea, Tregullow provides light and airy fields of old pasture bordered by woodland. All of our animals are born and raised in this healthy environment, living off lush grass in the summer months, and the hay and silage that we cut on the farm, in winter.

Red Ruby Herd at Tregullow

Our method is to ensure that these wonderful animals have a stress free life, enabling them to enjoy the natural goodness of our Cornish environment. This makes them easy to handle and to feed. In the winter months they live in spacious, well-aired barns, opening onto yards where they can feed in the Cornish winter sunshine. Contentment and well-being are the watchwords for our cattle.

The animals that we produce for meat are carefully selected. They are between 24 and 30 months old. They will have suckled their mothers for the first 9 months of life and thereafter have been a contented member of the herd in these peaceful surroundings. Their journey to the butcher at the end is brief, and the beef is hung for a minimum of three weeks to ensure a connoisseur carnivore’s finish.
